The ten weeks language course is coming to an end. Time flies. I met friendly classmates and tutors.
Luckily, I was on the same campus as most of my classmates. I hope I can keep in touch with Rachel in the future.
Now I am Ready to enter MA’s study life. While learning professionals knowledge, I can also enhance other skills such as drawing and editing.I believe I will have valuable experience in the coming year to help me become a better me.
The work looks a little bit chaotic and like a jungle made by magnet, but it’s keep in balanced. I didn’t look at the introduction when I looked at the work.Just a thought came up.
Isn’t like our life? Or ourselves mind?
The three balls are also delicately balanced. Life is a long way and society is complicated. Keeping mind Seems is a easy things, but just like the ball and the magnet that respond to surrounding air currents, generating delicate reation.
But as same as that find a balance and you’ll find clam
We’ll meet at 11am tomorrow in Millennium Bridge. through some research St. Paul’s Cathedral just needs take 7 minutes by walk. So, I plan to go to there after our meeting to see a typical Baroque building.
After that I can go to Tate modern, there are 3 exhibition and display I want to explore.
The first is Olafur Eliasson-In real life. According the introduction I found the artist’s artwork is deeply exploring society and the environment area, we can find out ‘what an artist’s perspective can bring to issues of climate change, energy, migration as well as architecture.’ I also found that Tate and Eliasson is doing a project about a system for recycling old T-shirts which is recycle from visitors (The website has mention that bring old t-shirts into Tate Modern for reuse or recycling and can get a 20% discount on an Olafur Eliasson exhibition). It is relevant to the project we’re working on.
The second is Explore Material and Objective. It’s in the Natale bell building level 4 west. Why I choose this display, because there is an artwork named Fountain by Marcel Duchamp in 1917 that mentioned in our class. And in this display, I display I can examine wide variety of materials used by modern and contemporary artists to explore why an artist might choose them and what associations they bring with them.
The third is Media Network. I want to know how the artists impact of mass media and the ever-changing technologies over the past hundred, thought that maybe I can think the art of the future would be like.
In this project we’re going to start with human causes.
At first wechoose Egypt and Africa to be our main area that we want to solve. But we foundChina is the country, which most affected by land degradation. Although Africa’sdesert area lager, the main reason is natural factors. We would like to focuson the human factors that we might make change.
What can we do? Make an application.
Many peoplewant to do public welfare activates, but in reality many encounter some obstacles, such as have no enough time, money or ideas to realize action. Our goal is tobuild a platform that appeals to people to protect the environment and helpthem realize the idea of doing public service.
Mostly everyonehas a mobile phone nowadays, which should be the most effective directcommunication method. So we choose the internet, application.
This applicationmain function is not focused on advected people to realized how densificationis serious, but let us to do something tochange the problem.
Desertification
is a serious global problem, already effect many people’s life. Desertification
and Land degradation is a gradual process, but its hazards and disasters are
lasting and far-reaching. This issue is caused by two main reasons, natural factor
and human factor. The human factor is main cause.
The population growth and economic development put too much pressure on the land. Excessive reclamation, overgrazing, deforestation and unreasonable use of water resources seriously degraded the land, destroyed the forest, and gradually dried up the climate, eventually forming a desert.
Arid and
semi-arid areas are already short of water and windy, now the land is ravaged,
vegetation destroyed, less precipitation, more wind erosion topsoil, sand
slowly dune development. This makes arable and pastoral land, into not suitable
for grazing and farming desertification land.
Desertification
is a sign of environmental degradation and a positive feedback process of
environmental instability. If no fundamental measures are taken, the land
erosion and desertification process will not automatically stop but will
intensify development.
In the Brighton museum the 2nd floor, there is an exhibition called – ‘wild life photographer of the year’. This exhibition does not allow take photos, but it’s always on my mind.
I saw a lot of awe-inspiring images from extraordinary animal behavior to breathtaking landscapes. But there are many photographs let me shocked-human harm to animals and nature, which is to make me feel that we need to do something to make change. To hurt nature is to hurt ourselves.
Meantime, I saw a wall hanging with visitors’ paintings and ‘Exploring our world’ is in the middle. This is a activate topic. it’s said small actions can make big changes, individual actions can have a collective impact, ‘share your own small action to inspire other visitors.’ That’s really inspire me, which is our aim of project 3- ‘art and activism’, do something, even though a small action.
Before watch the documentary,I thought Bjarke Ingels is a photographer, but he is a architecture. In this documentary he said a word impressed me, ‘hedonistic sustainability’.
His designs incorporate the idea of sustainability and Bjarke Ingels hops his architecture can inspire everyone’s awareness of environmental protection and playfulness. I do think his work that is very different from traditional architecture is interesting.Maybe he was a cartoonist made him think in different angles to made his work so unconventional.
he also publish a book ‘yes is more’,Ingels defines himself as a ‘realistic utopian.’ That seems like a contradiction, but the results that seem fresh are mostly based on solving real world problems and following logic.
Through his works concept and introduction, found that he mixed traditional elements through non-traditional way, creating added value. This little theory of combining elements that I also mentioned in my Project1, I think I might continue to think in that direction.
Pitt Rivers Museum displays many ancient smoking equipment, and also shows the cigarettes origins and development. Those equipment’s shapes are different, as these objects show that tobacco may be smoked in a pipe, rolled in paper or leaves and smoked, chewed, or powdered and sniffed. In the later stage, the pipe was beautifully designed with different patterns and colors. It can be seen that tobacco can be ingested in various ways. In different cultures, different ways are favored although smoking is the most common.
Although these old items just smoking equipment, human intelligence can be seen from the little things and smoking is just this small thing can develop so many different types. those snuff bottle and pipe has an artistic design. The patterns, materials, reliefs are quite exquisite. It’s not only a smoking set,but also an artwork.
This is the third visit to Britain and it was the first time came to this as a student
